    How it works

    1. Write

Write 24 little messages, or start from our ideas for partners, friends, kids, family or colleagues and make them yours.

    2. Send one link

The whole calendar is packed into the link. Send it by WhatsApp, text or email, or tuck it into a card.

    3. A door a day

Door 1 opens on 1 December and the front door on Christmas Eve, in their time zone. Doors open in order, so nothing gets skipped.

    Questions

What is a digital advent calendar?

A digital advent calendar is a web page with 24 doors, one for each day from 1 to 24 December. Each door hides a small surprise, such as a note, a joke, a coupon or a link, and opens on its day. Little Doors lets you write one for someone and send it as a single link.

How do I make a digital advent calendar for free?

Choose who it is for, add their name, and fill the 24 doors with your own messages or our ideas. Then create your link and send it by WhatsApp, text or email. It takes about five minutes, costs nothing and needs no account.

Does the person need an app or an account?

No. The calendar opens in any web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. They tap the link and open one door each day.

    Who makes Little Doors?

Little Doors is an independent side project by Rakesh Menon, a software developer. It launched in October 2026 and is free, with no ads and no accounts.

    Is it really free?

Yes. No account, no payment, no ads. It is a small side project. With your permission we count visits with Google Analytics to see how it is used.

    Where are my messages stored?

Your calendar is encrypted in your browser before it is saved, and the key exists only in the link you send, after the # sign, which browsers never send to a server. So we store it, but we cannot read it. Only the names, if you choose to show them in the link preview, are stored readable. Calendars are deleted 60 days after the last door. Google Analytics, if you allow it, never receives your messages or names.

Can they peek at future doors?

No. Every door is locked twice: its message is encrypted, and the piece needed to unlock it stays on our server until that door's day has begun. Not even someone who knows how to read code can open it early. To work for everyone, a door unlocks when its day starts in the first time zone on Earth, so in far-off time zones it can arrive up to a day early. Doors also open in order, one after the other.

Can I change it after sending?

Yes. Open Little Doors again on the device where you made it, or use your private edit link, change anything and press Save changes. The link you sent stays the same and shows the new version.

    Can I add photos?

You can add a link on each door, for example to a shared photo album, a song, a video or a voucher. Photos themselves cannot go inside the link.

It is already December. Is it too late?

Not at all. Doors whose day has passed can be opened straight away, one after the other, so they can catch up and then get one door a day.
